CSE 6331.002, Spring 2017

PROJECT MILESTONES

1. In the first milestone, you need to provide us with your initial design and specifications of the project you want to work on. This also includes the systems/software that you plan to use. The deadline for this is 29th March 2017, 11:59pm.

2. In the second milestone you are required to submit the detailed design and specifications of the project. You are expected to complete at least 50-60% of the project by now. This is due on 12th April 2017, 11:59pm.

3. A final report on the project will be due before your project demonstration. The final project in-class demonstrations will begin from 26th April 2017.

The submission folder for the first and second milestone will be available under the course materials on BB.

Further information about the final project reports and demonstration of the projects will be updated soon.

Grading criteria for the projects:

1. Project demo (50%): The demo time for each group will be 15 minutes. You need to design your demo to show the features of your project, and the user-friendly interface. Part of the grade will also be on a good display of the maps. If a certain feature of your project takes too much time (e.g. shortest path calculation or clustering of user’s locations), then you can pre-run it and display the results during the demo, but you still must display the results on the maps.

2. Project reports (50%): This includes intermediate reports (15% each) and final report (20%). The final report should have several parts:

a. Overall high-level description of the design of your project and the assumption you made.

b. The systems and software that you used.

c. A description of the algorithms that were implemented.

d. The source code.

You can use and update your intermediate project reports when producing the final project report.
