Getting Access to Visual Studio
UTA students have access to the computer lab at NH 231. All computers in that lab have Visual Studio 2008 installed. That lab has the following hours:
Monday -Friday |
8:00 am-12:00 am |
Saturday |
9:00am-12:00am |
Sunday |
12:00pm-12:00am |
Students can also install Visual Studio 2008 for free on their computers using the MSDNAA alliance. At this point, you should have received at your UTA Mavs account an e-mail from MSDNAA providing you with a user name and password. If not, you can recover your password by going to:
https://msdn01.e-academy.com/uta_cseng/index.cfm?loc=login/login
and clicking on "Did you forget your password". Use your UTA Mavs e-mail address as your login name.
To install Visual Studio 2008 for free, follow these instructions:
- Go to the
MSDNAA website, and use your username and password to log in.
- Click the "Software" tab after login the website.
- Then select "Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition with SP1" from the drop down list under "Search by product titles". Press "Go" button.
- After that click the button "Add to Cart" followed by "I agree" button.
- Click "Check Out" button.
- Enter your last name and first name and press "Next" button.
- Click "Download" link to start downloading the Visual Studio.
- What you download is an ISO file. To install from that file, you need to burn that file into a CD pr DVD, using any disk burning software of your choice. Then, you use that disk as your installation disk. An alternative is to use some software to mount the ISO file as a virtual DVD drive. For that purpose, you can use
Virtual CD-ROM
, which is free. Then, you can install from the virtual drive as if it were a real drive.
